Channels are now
Rooms.

We've renamed channels to rooms across web, iOS, and Android. The same persistent, always-on voice spaces — a clearer name for how teams actually use them. Nothing to migrate.

June 2026

A small word change. A much clearer idea.

From today, what you used to call a channel is now called a room— across the web app, iOS, Android, and everywhere we talk about the product. It's the same feature you already use every day. We just gave it a name that fits.

“Channel” carries the wrong baggage. It sounds like a broadcast feed you tune into, or a text thread you skim later — one-directional, asynchronous, passive. That's not what whoot. is. A whoot. space is somewhere you walk into and talk, where everyone can hear and be heard in real time, the moment they press to speak.

That's a room. You step in, you're with your team, the conversation is already live. It's how trading desks, control rooms, and operations floors actually think about these spaces — so it's what we now call them.

Nothing about your setup changes.Every space you've built, every member, every permission, every recording and dial-in number is exactly where you left it. There's nothing to migrate and nothing to relearn — only the label is different.

Same space. Everything you rely on.

A whoot. room is a persistent, always-on voice space — here's what it does.

Always-On Voice

Persistent push-to-talk spaces that are always live
Sub-150ms end-to-end voice — walk in and talk
Join and leave freely; the room is always there

Dial-In Numbers

Give any room a real phone number
PSTN callers dial in and join instantly — no app, no account
Inbound callers appear as live participants

Live Presence

See who's listening with a real-time avatar strip
Know who's in the room before you speak
Presence syncs across web, iOS, and Android

Recording & Transcription

Compliance-grade capture, per room
Searchable AI transcripts of every conversation
Configurable retention and full audit trails

Per-Room Colours

An eight-colour accent palette to organise at a glance
Tell rooms apart instantly across a busy workspace
Set once — consistent on every device

Granular Control

Per-member transmit and receive permissions
Cross-tenant sharing for external rooms
Emergency alert scopes and defaults per room

You don't tune into a channel.
You walk into a room.

Nothing to Migrate

Only the name changed.

This is a rename, not a redesign. There's no migration to run, no settings to rebuild, and no learning curve. Every space, member, permission, recording, and dial-in number is exactly as you left it. Your links, integrations, and API access keep working without a change. The next time you sign in, you'll just see “Room” where it used to say “Channel” — and everything else will be right where it's always been.

The word changed — the product didn't. Your spaces work exactly as before.
Members, permissions, history, recordings, and dial-in numbers are untouched
Web, iOS, and Android all say "Room" now — one consistent vocabulary
No action required — you don't need to recreate or reconfigure anything
Per-room accent colours, presence, and transcripts all carry over
Shared and external rooms keep their existing access, exactly as set
Your URLs, integrations, and API access continue to work as before
